In spite of being a relative short single-bore tunnel of 670 m length, the Husafjell Tunnel is important as it connects the port city of Haugesund to the subsea Karmøy Tunnel. The Husafjell Tunnel was opened in 2013 and has a speed limit of 80 km/h.

The Trafsense road monitoring system is retrofitted in the tunnel and integrated with ITV cameras and the road owner’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. Testing of the stop detection functionality and the queue detection functionality gave > 99% detection rates for both.
