The Trafsense road monitoring system measures the degree of queue, which allows for automatically lowering the local speed limit, activate upstream warning signs, push warnings, etc. at a predefined degree of congestion.
The Trafsense road monitoring system reports the percentage queue per lane with a spatial resolution of 100 m and temporal resolution of three minutes. Separate queues along the monitored road are reported individually and per lane.
A slowly moving vehicle that does not slow down any upstream traffic, is not defined by Trafsense as a queue as this is not safety critical information that requires any immediate human action.
